Job Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled AI Chip Architecture Design Engineer to focus on the development and optimization of AI hardware systems. This highly technical role involves designing simulators, optimizing AI chips at various levels, and developing front-end code to ensure the functionality and performance of AI chips. The ideal candidate will have experience working with AI hardware accelerators and will be comfortable collaborating across interdisciplinary teams to advance AI chip design.

Key Responsibilities:

Simulator Design:

  • Design and develop simulators for AI chips using tools like GEM5, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in simulating chip behavior across various AI workloads.
  • Work on refining simulation models to validate chip functionality, optimize chip resources, and predict performance under different conditions.

Performance Optimization:

  • Algorithm Level: Enhance computational algorithms to ensure efficiency and reduce latency in AI-specific tasks.
  • Architecture Level: Design and refine the overall architecture of AI chips, optimizing the layout and interaction of processing elements to improve performance and power consumption.
  • Circuit Level: Focus on improving low-level electrical performance to ensure the chip operates effectively at the physical level, optimizing power and area.

Front-End Code Development:

  • Write, test, and optimize front-end code to support AI chip functionality and ensure it is compatible with the chip’s architecture.
  • Collaborate with software teams to ensure efficient integration of AI hardware and software, enabling seamless execution of AI models.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and verification teams, to ensure the AI hardware meets performance and functional specifications.
  • Assist in the development of documentation and reports on design decisions, performance optimizations, and system-level simulations.

Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field. Advanced degrees (Master’s or PhD) are a plus.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of computer architecture and AI hardware accelerators (e.g., GPUs and TPUs).
  • Familiarity with memory access patterns in AI models and effective memory handling strategies to optimize performance in data-intensive AI workloads.
  • Proficiency in designing and developing hardware simulators and performance profiling.
  • Experience with hardware description languages (HDL) like Verilog or VHDL is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capability to work independently on complex tasks.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English for clear communication, documentation, and reporting.
