Our client is an integrated provider of strategic natural resources and key commodities. Their principal activities include the exploration, development and production of oil and coal, the import and export of bulk commodities as well as investments in aluminium smelting.

They are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Oil Commercial Operator to join their dynamic team for their Singapore Office that will be set up by mid 2025.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the operational aspects of their oil trading activities, ensuring seamless coordination between internal and external stakeholders to maximize efficiency and profitability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate all operational activities related to oil shipments, including vessel chartering, scheduling, nominations, and demurrage management.
  • Coordinate the end-to-end logistics for physical oil and gas trades, including shipment scheduling, storage, and transportation.
  • Oversee the movement of crude oil, refined products, or feedstocks, ensuring adherence to contract terms and operational procedures.
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of trades by liaising with traders, counterparties, and service providers.
  • Interpret and implement sales, purchase, and shipping agreements, ensuring all operational obligations are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Monitor compliance with international regulations and company policies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for counterparties, shipping agents, inspectors, and other third parties involved in the supply chain.
  • Work closely with traders, finance, and logistics teams to ensure alignment and support trading strategies.
  • Prepare and manage operational documentation such as bills of lading, letters of credit, and other trade-related paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates on shipment progress, costs, and performance.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks, including delays, quality discrepancies, and logistical challenges.
  • Monitor market and operational conditions to recommend adjustments or optimizations.
  • Track and control freight, port, and other operational costs, negotiating where necessary to optimize profitability.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in oil trading operations or a related role in the energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping, logistics, and international trade practices.
  • Any relevant certifications in shipping, trade finance, or oil trading will be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools (trading platforms, ERP systems, Excel).

This role will start in March/April 2025 with an orientation/training period in Hong Kong HQ.
