Job Description:
  • The Operations Specialist will be employed by company and will work with the Sydney Operations Manager to handle coverage of Asia Pac responsibilities which will include monitoring failing and unmatched trades in high-risk Asian markets, ensuring broker execution trade matching via Omgeo product CTM and maintaining custodian settlement instructions via Omgeo product Alert.
  • In addition, the Operations Specialist may handle assigned accounts for daily and monthly review and/or act as an individual contributor for specialized projects and specialized functions within a group.
  • This full-time role primarily supports functions that occur normal business hours. The role will report to the VP, Operations Manager – ASIAPAC who is based in the Sydney office.
What You’ll Do:
  • Supporting global offices – Work with the Sydney office and provide coverage to build a “follow the sun model”.
  • Trade Support - Assist the Boston and Sydney Trade Settlement group to facilitate the trade matching and settlement process, including China market trade matching.
  • Oversee & Maintain Custodian Relationships - Work with the custodians to ensure an effective working relationship and to secure proper attention and maintenance of client accounts.
  • Support for Trading Group – Complete custody holdings check for the Asia Pac region, assist with spendable cash confirmation, and other requests as needed.
  • Reconciliation of Account Holdings/Activity - Check portfolio holdings, trading activity, and cash balances while providing oversight with outsource providers, BNY and SS&C
  • Corporate Action Processing – Assist the Sydney Manager with oversight and monitoring of corporate actions on Sydney-based accounts. Assist with creating and maintaining the outsource operating model for voluntary and mandatory corporate actions.
  • Pre-Trade Compliance – Assist the trading group in validating any pre-trade compliance exceptions in a timely manner.
  • Account Set up – Work with internal stakeholders in setting up accounts for new clients, including working with transition managers.
  • Internal Inquiries - Assisting with internal inquiries, such as from the Trading, Compliance or Global Client Group.
We’re Looking for Teammates With:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Economics, or another financial related degree preferred; At least two years of fund accounting / operations or related Investment Management experience.
  • Strong analytical background and knowledge of financial accounting principles required.
  • Proficient in MS Windows 2007 and MS 2007 office suite.
  • The ideal candidate will be familiar with Charles Rivers CRIMS application as well as Omgeo CTM and Alert.
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Detail oriented, flexible, ability to work within a team-orientated environment, as well as independently, and comfortable dealing with confidential information.
  • Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving skills and willingness to assume additional responsibilities within group.
