Position Overview

Autodesk is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our Autodesk IAM Platform team. The Autodesk IAM platform is at the core of secure, seamless, and scalable access management for our suite of 150+ desktop, mobile, and web applications, as well as smart devices. This platform is responsible for authentication, authorization, and access management, serving millions of customers daily while supporting a growing ecosystem of third-party developers and smart devices.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and evolving our IAM platform. You will drive the technical vision, architecture, and implementation of highly scalable and resilient access management service, ensuring that platform remain secure, performant, and future-proof.

Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, and implement highly scalable, resilient, and secure access management service for Autodesk's product and services
  • Lead and influence technical direction, best practices, and system design for access management
  • Solve complex distributed system challenges, ensuring high availability, performance, and security at scale
  • Work closely with engineering teams, architects, security experts, and product managers to define and execute a long-term identity and access management strategy
  • Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, security, and technical excellence
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in access management, cloud security, and distributed systems, incorporating best practices into IAM architecture
  • Research and prototype new ideas, technologies and patterns relating to the task
  • Take full ownership of the initiative and deliver it with end to end solution

Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in cloud-based identity and access management solutions
  • Expertise in designing and building distributed systems, microservices architectures, and cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Deep understanding of authorization models (RBAC, ABAC, Zero Trust)
  • Strong programming experience in Go, Java, Python, or Node.js, with a focus on building scalable backend services
  • Hands-on experience of developing RESTful web services and integrating the same with heterogeneous clients
  • Hands-on experience with Build and CI/CD tools like Ant, Gradle, Docker, Jenkins
  • Proven ability to drive technical strategy, lead complex projects, and influence engineering teams across the organization
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to converse fluently with multiple types of audiences ranging from managers, architects, and partners
  • Preferred experience with log aggregation and operational event monitoring technologies like Splunk or New Relic
  • Flexibility under changing conditions and the ability to multi-task between projects

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience in Java 8+, Spring, Spring Boot
  • Hands-on Experience with Amazon web services - ECS, Lambda, Cloud Front, S3, SQS, Aurora etc
  • Nice to have experience with authentication protocols (OAuth, OIDC, SAML, MFA, PKCE, FIDO, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a heterogeneous environment consisting of multiple languages and technologies
