A*STAR IDL is seeking for a Tech-Business Director who will be responsible for supporting A*STAR IDL in private and public partnerships for infectious disease research by translating our intellectual properties to commercial solutions through industry research collaborations, licensing and spin-off efforts to drive economic, health and social outcomes for Singapore.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead a team of co-workers.
- Translate knowledge of strategic R&D with opportunities for value creation and value capture in Singapore into relevant technology roadmaps, develop strategies for industry involvement, and formulate clear collaboration objectives.
- Develop a deep understanding of R&D policy and strategy, programme design and management competencies, and communication skills to engage a diverse set of stakeholders within and outside of A*STAR
- Formulate business development/industry initiatives and manage industry meetings to build and establish the value chain with various key stakeholders.
- Work closely with key investigators to develop work plans including budget, milestone tracking and deliverables. Perform contract negotiation and manage key stakeholder expectations and proactively ensure project deliverables including presentations, reports and meetings with external partners are met.
- Coach and mentor team members on account management and research collaboration/ licensing deals structuring and costing.
- Proficient in advanced contractual terms and lead negotiations with industry collaborations and internal stakeholders, including multi-party collaborations.
Job Requirements:
- PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Infectious Diseases, Immunology or related field as above.
- Over 10 years of relevant working experience, preferably with a background in Infectious Diseases/Immunology/Life Sciences/Microbiology/Molecular Biology or related fields preferred, or Master's degree (MBA) with relevant industry experience.
- Current on industry trends with strong pulse on key industry players.
- Experience in handling legal agreements, stakeholder relationships, negotiating deals. Other instances would include grant documents and academic agreements (RCAs, SAs, MTAs).
- Track record in identifying and spearheading competitive industry research collaborations.
- Excellent networking, communication and writing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams of no less than 5 staff to set objectives, juggle priorities and achieve key results within stipulated deadlines.
