What the role is:The Coastal and Marine (C&M) branch of the National Biodiversity Centre, National Parks Board (NParks), aims to provide Singapore with a strong basis to adopt a proactive, balanced and forward-planning approach to CME-related policy, management, and research-direction issues, consistent with its long-term economic and sustainable development goals. This is part of NParks commitment to an inter-agency initiative to strengthen Singapore's capacity in areas related to the coastal and marine environment and to the conservation of Singapore's marine biodiversity.What you will be working on:We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the Coastal and Marine (C&M) branch in conducting research and contributing to marine conservation initiatives. The key responsibilities include:- Planning and coordinating citizen science programmes to establish a coordinated monitoring programme and developing a national baseline for habitat survey data.- Planning and executing outreach programmes for capacity building and education.- Assist with day-to-day operations of the C&M branch.What we are looking for:- Areas of study in Life Sciences, Marine Biology, Environmental Management, Zoology, Ecology or related discipline is preferred.- Possess good verbal and written communication skills to be able to effectively engage and interact with a wide range of local stakeholders including resource managers, government agencies, academics, and various interest groups- Familiar with Singapore's marine environment and stakeholder community- Experience in data analysis, especially in ecology-related projects- Comfortable with undertaking field work and able to work effectively in a team environment- Comfortable with outreach activities and working with volunteers and researchers- Possess basic knowledge of video and photo editing, being savvy with digital communication tools will be an added advantageOnly shortlisted candidates will be notified.
