  • CIB Technology is the business aligned Technology function supporting the SCB Corporate and Investment Banking business. CIB Tech designs and delivers change and provides technology support across SCB’s Transaction Banking (including Trade, Cash), Financial Markets, Digital Channels and Client Platforms domains. The organisation consists of approximately 7,000 Technology staff in 20 locations.
  • Reporting to Chief Information Officer, Corporate & Investment Banking Technology (CIB Tech), we are seeking a talented and passionate individual to join as the Head, Strategy & Business Management, CIB Tech.
  • You will be responsible for providing day-to‐day planning, coordination, and execution support to Chief Information Officer, Corporate & Investment Banking Technology (CIB Tech), with the goal of enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the office mandate. You will also play a part in determining and executing strategic initiatives that drive CIB Tech’s and the Bank’s transformation agenda. In addition, you will advise on plans, roadmaps and business cases to address significant strategic initiatives in alignment to the overall Strategy. This is a unique and challenging position requiring a combination of strategic thinking and strong analytic capabilities; accompanied by solid communication, interpersonal and administrative skills.

Role Responsibilities

  • Define and update the CIB Tech strategy on behalf of CIO, CIB Tech, in close alignment with the CIB Tech Management Team.
  • Advise on, recommend and help facilitate significant strategic initiatives that advance the agenda and effectiveness of CIB Tech, in partnership with key stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Provide strategically aligned leadership and direction to cross-business/ function initiatives during early stages, on request from CIB Tech, or business/ domain/ geography CIOs/COOs.
  • Own and drive CIB Tech strategic initiatives required to deliver CIB Tech’s agenda/objectives cross-business/function, in collaboration with required stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the delivery and execution of the CIB Tech strategy along with the associated organisational factors such as headcount and location strategy.
  • Lead the CIB Tech Business Management team to co-ordinate the delivery of pan CIB Business Management outcomes, both scheduled and tactical
  • Drive the usage of modern reporting tools and methods championing data driven automation and analysis
  • Work in partnership with the CIB CIO and Management team to manage CIB investment portfolio
  • Support the CIO on the oversight of the investment budget and ensuring that the budget is managed within acceptable tolerances
  • Partner with CIB COO, T&O Finance and ECM teams to ensure that the portfolio is delivered both within the financial guardrails but also executed within the prevailing delivery standards.
  • As a member of the CIB Technology MT, provide up to date information on the performance of the CIB portfolio as well as managing the hygiene factors such as headcount vs targets and D&I performance.
  • Act as a central point of co-ordination for groups such as Finance, HR, Vendor Management and Operational Risk for Pan-CIB activities.
  • Ensuring appropriate financial planning, governance and controls are in place to ensure benefits from investments are delivered as per plan. Requires collaboration with the broader CIB business organisation as well as COO, CIO and Functions organisation.
  • Create high quality presentation materials to support the regular communication of CIB Technology strategy to internal and external stakeholders

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in consulting, Chief of Staff or COO area of sizeable international companies, ideally with experience in the finance sector. International exposure and ability to handle cultural diversity will be essential to this role.
  • A strategic and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills that exhibits the ability to make balanced judgments / decisions leveraging quantitative and qualitative approaches
  • Has ability to articulate problem statements, conceptualise solutions and is prepared to ‘roll up his/her sleeves’ to get the job done.
  • Demonstrates ability to concurrently own and work on multiple key areas independently or in a group within a large, rapidly changing environment to deliver high quality outcomes on time, even with limited direction.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters / initiatives with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to work as a strong team player in a multi-cultural global setting.
  • Strong stakeholder management and alignment capability, including securing buy-in with senior stake holders and business leaders
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – oral, written and presentation.
  • Confident and courageous to raise/escalate issues in a pro-active, professional, and timely manner.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the Group’s core values.
