Product Owner

This is a 2 years fixed term contract role, to be based at Metropolis.

Role Summary

• MODEC provides engineering design and consultancy services to support oil and gas extraction and offshore exploration activities specializing in Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels. We are a part of the Mitsui Group, with 5000+ employees from 25 countries. Following the successful launch of digital capability in Brazil, the Digital and Analytics global team was launched. You will join this new, multinational team.
• You will build enterprise software products that help our business goals and serve our customers’ needs.
• You will be a core member to drive a large-scale Digital Transformation effort at an industry-leading company working on billion-dollar projects.

Responsibilities

• As a product owner, you will be responsible for owning and driving the development of software products that support our vast team of engineers.
• Our initiatives include 3D simulations, AI-assisted engineering reviews, document review systems, enterprise search engines, and more. You will own an entire product or a significant portion of it, facing new challenges every day.
• Your motivation and curiosity will drive you to understand operations across different engineering teams in the organization, helping them digitize their business processes.
• You will communicate directly with users to understand their real pain points and listen to their feedback for ongoing enhancements.
• Your role will involve designing MVP solutions for quick implementation, while considering a scalable foundation that allows for subsequent enhancements.
• You will maintain the product vision, roadmap, and backlog, prioritizing product backlog items as needed.
• Additionally, you will manage project scope, timeline, budget, resources, and risk.
• Lastly, you will groom and prioritize work in the backlog against clear, outcome-oriented goals.

Requirement

• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or Business Analyst.
• Experience working on enterprise systems requiring technical communication with engineers highly favorable.
• Good understanding of web application development and cloud technologies.
• A keen interest in contributing to architectural decisions, understanding technical limitations and “looking under the hood” to understand how different technologies work together.
• Understanding of UI/UX concepts and ability to express requirements in workflow diagrams and wireframe mockups.
• Capable of thinking out of the box and excited about exploring new solutions, willing to challenge the status quo.
• Experience in using Agile methodology
• Good project management skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

• Ability to understand engineering drawing
• Engineering qualification

Nice to have

• Understanding of 3D spatial concepts and the ability to think in 3D.
• Software development experience
• Ability to query database or retrieve information with API
• Start-up experience
• Familiarity with the Oil and Gas industry
