Position Summary

  • Responsible for implementing Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Management System to ensure compliance of all applicable laws and regulations, codes of practices and Pfizer EHS Standards and provide EHS technical guidance to support API plant operations not limited to essential programs focusing on risk management, job safety analysis and Occupational Hygiene.

  • Responsible for facilitating / scribing Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) / HAZOP studies of the API processes and products

  • Supporting in Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) activities, management of change reviews and other activities and tasks as determined by the Senior EHS Manager

  • Responsible for
    o Internal focus audit to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, Pfizer Global EHS standards and recommended practices.
    o EHS and PS leading indicators and performance metrics.
    o Effectiveness of both the EHS and Process Safety Management System and Risk Management

Position Responsibilities

  • Act as technical scribe for PHA / HAZOP studies of the API processes and products

  •  Review and conduct process hazard analysis or risk assessments to identify hazards, eliminate and/or minimize significant adverse impacts associated with management of change

  •  Participates / Conducts incident investigation using Method-1 tools to identify the root causes and to determine corrective/preventive measures to prevent a recurrence.

  •  Conduct regular internal audit to evaluate the effectiveness of the OH and PS programs and address the gaps/deviations in a timely manner.

  •  Conduct EHS orientation and PS training for colleagues.

  •  Assist in the development of site’s industrial hygiene program with the area/department owners’ participation in ensuring they comply with local regulations and Pfizer standards.

  •  Conducts industrial hygiene assessments of new products, processes, capital investments and assist to identify and implement controls to assure colleagues’ protection.

  •  Support Colleague Wellness on occupational exposures and medical surveillance activities.

  •  Conducts ergonomic assessments, provides improvement recommendations, and leverages the EHS management system to track recommendations.

  •  Conducts investigations of working conditions for the prevention of occupational disease and industrial health hazards with specific reference to toxic substances, noise, and harmful physical agents.

  •  Develop and implement technical sampling strategies measuring airborne concentrations of dust, gases, and mists; use air sampling instruments and collection devices collecting samples of materials to detect and evaluate employee exposure including providing 'solutions and determining the effectiveness of engineering and administrative Controls

  •  Provides industrial hygiene expertise to the emergency response team

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in safety / Process Safety or Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.

  • Certified Workplace Safety & Health Officer / Industrial Hygienist is advantageous.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry or petrochemical / oil refinery, chemicals manufacturing industry is advantageous.

  • Good knowledge and application of relevant regulatory laws and regulations, codes of practice and/or SS651 is advantageous.
