Lead a team of Relationship Managers to promote a range of MUFG’s products and services to Japanese corporate customers. Responsible for assessing the customers and industries risk supporting the team in structuring complex deals to mitigate risk to the Bank. Also, responsible for leading or supporting initiatives to drive the implementation of the department’s business strategy to build the customer base and increase revenue business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The department head will be responsible to develop and lead business plan by identifying new revenue opportunities and building customer base as well as revenue align to the Bank’s direction/vision.

  • Understand the competitive landscape, review department’s performance, and identify opportunities for growth as well as risks.

  • Lead the promotion of products to customers and identify and promote cross selling opportunities

  • Oversee the delivery of relevant banking services to customers to meet the department's revenue targets

  • Lead and support team to build effective relationships with key customers to develop new business and to deliver a high quality of service.

  • Anticipate as well as be sensitive to shifting customer expectations and guide the department to consider appropriate measures to ensure the Bank stays ahead of competitors.

  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder management with key stakeholders both within MUFG and externally.

  • Work in partnership with colleagues across the region to deliver an integrated service for our customers, as well as to share knowledge and best practice on corporate banking topics.

  • Lead and support Relationship Managers in the Branches for large cross boarder deals to understand the customer’s business strategy, financial needs, and product proposals and provide input to key customer sales pitches.

  • Work in partnership with various departments in the Bank to support in delivering seamless transactions to the customer. Departments including but not limited to Operations and Planning.

  • Meet with customers/prospects when required, to represent the business to resolve issues and maintain the customer’s relationship.

  • Ability to advise on investment products concerning OTC derivatives contracts (includes FX Forwards) under Financial Advisers Act (FAA) and To Deal in investment products concerning OTC derivatives contracts (includes FX Forwards) under Securities and Futures Act (SFA)

  • Ability to handle Embedded loans

Job Requirements:

  • Degree qualified

  • At least 10 to 15 years of working experience in relationship management/ marketing experience within Japanese corporate banking industry and/or planning experience in banking industry

  • Proficient in both written and spoken Japanese to effectively communicate with Japanese stakeholders and senior management in Tokyo Head Office

  • Knowledge in regulatory requirements from JFSA (Japanese Financial Services Agency) would be advantageous.

  • Proven track record in leading a team

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence others

  • Strong stakeholder management skills to collaborate with other departments

  • Strong coaching, mentoring and leadership skills to manage a team

  • Strong knowledge in corporate banking products and services

  • Strong understanding of the regional banking regulatory environment with particular focus on the local regulations
