About the Role

The objective for this position will be responsible for supporting the Public Assets teams in AIA IM, managing and driving the non-investment related aspect of the businesses to allow the team heads & portfolio managers to focus on generating performance for the clients. In this regard, the role of the BM-PA will involve the following sorts of activities: reengineering legacy processes, portfolio onboarding and transitioning activities eg new/change of mandates/structures, optimizing financial performance and assisting the PMs on compliance with relevant internal policies and procedures as well as external regulations.

Also, the role will provide management support to the Public Assets investment teams, working in-step with the investment teams for management of public investments. This involves general understanding of the public investment instruments (eg. Equities, fixed income, ETFs and mutual funds), legal documentation and concise communication with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

1) Design, develop and implement robust efficient processes and TOMs around the investment teams to maximize financial returns, mitigate risks and ensure clear deliverables and priorities for the teams. This includes performing Business Process Review (BPRs), re-engineering of legacy processes and implement process improvements (where required).

2) Manage pipeline of activities and drive BAU change management (around new accounts, clients, portfolios, instruments, tools, process flow changes, systems changes) in the Public assets space

  • Maintaining frequent and open communication with Public Assets investment teams and other stakeholders to assess change delivery capacity and timelines.
  • Working with stakeholder and SME (across AIA Group) to identify areas which require modifications to the design of existing products and infrastructure, to drive design and implementation of robust optimal solutions
  • Managing the end-to-end implementation and coordinating across functions once Asset Change timing is scheduled and agreed. This also includes coordinating operational readiness sign-off from an end-to-end perspective across defined control boxes.
  • Participate as member in AIAIM’s business management working group representing Public Assets Investment teams as functional SME, collaborating with other AIAIM teams to ensure consistent application of AIAIM change management and delivery approach

3) Drive transaction management around investments, implement and manage system* changes, operational readiness for key transaction execution.

  • This includes collaboration with internal teams, such as finance, legal, and operations, to ensure smooth execution of investment processes for key transactions.
  • Manage *Research Management System (RMS), to centralize and enhance the recording data vital to the evaluation of potential investments

4) Support team heads in managing key requests, queries and issues (e.g regulatory, audit, client)

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of portfolio management experience especially around trading/implementation/performance/attribution so there is a strong understanding of the end-to-end process flow across different financial instruments in an investment team
  • Strong knowledge of Aladdin/Bloomberg and other investment systems and tools such as Morningstar/ Factset etc is an advantage.
  • Strong project management, communication and influencing skills to be able to deliver on complex tasks
  • Solid stakeholder management skills to work across multiple departments
