AIG Underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, and Multinational Clients. We are reimagining how we help customers to manage risk, transforming our operating model and reshaping our role responsibilities and career pathways. How you will create an impact
- Assess and underwrite profitable Construction business in line with your underwriting authority, as well as the AIG's business strategy and underwriting guidelines.
- Work closely together with our risk engineering, claims and analytical support teams to assess risk quality and loss exposures, determine appropriate pricing and ensure operational efficiency.
- Actively seek and lead new account opportunities, negotiate contract terms with brokers and clients.
- Adhere to company procedures and documentation management standards.
- Ensure that underwriting information is maintained accurately in underwriting systems.
- Foster strong business relationships with external and internal business partners.
- Attend client/broker meetings, presentations and relevant industry events on behalf of the company.
- Work cross functionally with other underwriting teams in AIG to achieve corporate objectives.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Proven experience in underwriting profitable business in the Engineering & Construction segment of large corporate international insurance.
- Technical expertise in Engineering/Construction, economics, law or other appropriate discipline.
- Recognized relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are well established within the market.
- Specialized understanding of regional / local Engineering & Construction insurance markets and competitor landscape.
- Capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective.
- Good understanding of the legal and regulatory environment.
- Able to design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings for contracts.
- Strong analytical skills and proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Strong IT skills capable of working off a variety of technology platforms including underwriting platforms, raters, electronic trading platforms.
- Results oriented and highly accountable.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment making quick decisions while adhering to sound underwriting discipline.
- Foreign language skills are a plus.
