Research Associate (Biotechnology/Bioengineering/Chemical Engineering)
The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Research Associate in SLim Group.
The SLim Group is looking for a dedicated and highly motivated early-career scientist/engineer as a Research Associate who is interested in developing bioprocess for plastic-degrading enzymes using E. coli as a host. The Research Associate will be an individual contributor to a multi-disciplinary project involving bioengineering, chemical engineering and materials science.
Key Responsibilities:
Setting up protocols for bioprocess and optimization of fermenter operations for increasing the yield of enzyme production
Executing experiments to achieve the specific aims of the project
Presenting results in various meetings/forums
Preparing reports for submission to the funding agency
Managing research project and collaborations within and across labs.
Liaising with other scientists in the team as well as in other groups to develop the required expertise
Advising final year project and/or interns in the project.
Job Requirement:
Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
Working knowledge in fermentor operations for protein production using E. coli
Working knowledge in protein purification using AKTA FPLC and basic protein analytics
Highly preferred skills: familiarity with DOE
Preferred skills: familiarity in AI/ML for bioprocess
Able to design and execute experiments with minimal instructions
Good communication skills in both verbal and written forms
Take initiatives and lead a project and ensure delivery of outcomes in a timely manner
Team player who will take part in general lab activities
