Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to contribute to excellence in know your client (KYC), tax compliance, and strategic transformation initiatives. Reporting to a team lead, this role will play a critical role in ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing tax strategies, and assisting with process improvements to support the company's growth objectives.
Responsibilities:
1. KYC:
- Collate and review KYC information on customers and suppliers to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Perform due diligence checks (E.g. background checks, name screenings, and public searches etc.) for adverse news with regards to customers and suppliers.
- Ensure appropriate risk ratings are assigned to customers and suppliers, as well as resolving alerts identified.
- Ensure clear documentation of KYC checks performed for internal compliance review.
- Manage reporting to internal stakeholders, including addressing ad-hoc queries.
2. Tax Compliance:
- Participate in the company's tax planning and compliance efforts, working closely with external tax advisors to optimize tax strategies, minimize tax liabilities, maintain transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with local and international tax laws.
- Participate in the preparation of annual corporate tax filing and monthly/quarterly value added tax filing for the Group and its subsidiaries.
- Assist with other finance/tax related reporting to our shareholders and internal stakeholders, including addressing ad-hoc reporting and queries.
3. Risk Management:
Assess KYC and tax-related gaps/risks, assist in developing and implementing controls and procedures to mitigate risks and safeguard the company's financial assets.
4. Process Improvement and Transformation Initiatives:
Assist with improvement projects / transformation initiatives to optimise KYC and tax compliance processes, implement best practices and leveraging technology solutions to enhance efficiency, data analytics capabilities and improve decision making across the organisation.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sub-finance teams and business units, to communicate KYC insights, tax implications, and ensure successful execution of key initiatives.
6. Continuous Learning:
Stay abreast of changes in KYC and tax regulations, as well as industry best practices, contributing to the company remaining compliant and strategically positioned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in KYC and tax compliance, with a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency and experience in executing process improvement initiatives and implementing KYC and tax-related systems or tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and strong time and deadline management.
- Strong team player with a CAN-DO attitude.
