The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Position Available: Research Fellow

Join the laboratory of Tong Ping at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. We are seeking a research fellow to contribute to a project focused on seismic imaging and monitoring of the Lumut Balai geothermal field in Indonesia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting regular field work to collect seismic data in Singapore.
  • Seismic data processing and analysis.
  • Developing new seismic imaging techniques to reveal detailed subsurface structures at 0-10 km depths for delineating possible geothermal reservoirs.
  • Publish high-quality scientific results in Tier-1 journals.

Job Requirements:

  • A PhD degree in Mathematics, Geophysics, Physics, Computer Sciences, or related areas, with focus on seismic imaging
  • Experience in inverse problems, seismic data analysis, and geological interpretation
  • Proficient in coding languages, such as C, C++, Fortran, and Python.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong publication record
  • Entry level candidates are welcome to apply
