Procurement Director – Engineering Procurement
Do you have expertise in, and passion for Engineering Procurement? Would you like to apply your expertise to impact an organisation that follows the science and turns ideas into life changing medicines? Then AstraZeneca might be the one for you!
ABOUT ASTRAZENECA
AstraZeneca is a global, science-led, patient-focused biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialisation of prescription medicines for some of the world’s most serious diseases. But we’re more than one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies.
At AstraZeneca, we unlock the power of what science can do. Empowered to explore, everyday we work towards our ultimate aim – treating, preventing, modifying and even curing complex diseases.
What you’ll do
AstraZeneca relies on the design, construction and commissioning of new R&D and manufacturing facilities, in order to bring innovative new medicines to patients. These capital projects are typically fast track, technically demanding, often requiring novel manufacturing technologies, and annual global spend is c.USD 2bn. They are executed by AstraZeneca’s Global Engineering function, in conjunction with the Engineering Procurement team.
We wish to appoint a new Procurement Director in the Engineering Procurement team, to be based in Singapore. The team is currently located across China, UK, Sweden, Ireland, France and the US, and the team manager is based in the UK.
The successful applicant will be responsible for all procurement relating to our recently announced Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) Facility, to be built in Tuas, Singapore. This is a large multi-phased project, with the initial phase estimated at USD 1.5bn.
ADCs are a class of biopharmaceutical drug designed as a targeted therapy for treating cancer. Unlike chemotherapy, ADCs are intended to target and kill tumour cells while sparing healthy cells. ADCs are complex molecules, composed of an antibody, linked to a biologically active cytotoxic (anticancer) payload or drug.
The main categories of spend in the project are architecture and engineering, construction, consultancy and other services, and manufacturing equipment.
The successful candidate will take full accountability for development of the project procurement strategy, and successful implementation of sourcing, tendering, negotiations and contracts for the entire project, including future phases. They will be supported by a number of outsourced service providers (contractors) and will be responsible for managing these individuals.
This is a Singapore based role, and the office location will be Singapore.
