The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) is seeking to hire a Research Assistant to assist in ongoing projects involving the use of microfluidic devices for various biomedical and chemical applications. We are looking for individuals who display a talent for innovation and creativity with a strong interest in hands-on, exploratory works. The applicant is also expected to be independent, with the ability to multitask and display finesse in research work. Alongside the team, the applicant is expected to contribute towards research success and scientific discoveries.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for fabrication of microfluidic devices
Develop integrated system for chemical sensing on microfluidic device
Evaluate experimental data and provide high level analysis
Analyze and provide feedback on current lab protocols
Manage and ensure lab operational status
Attend meetings with other lab collaborators
Report generation and publication of research efforts
Job Requirements:
Education qualifications – Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering in a local university (or equivalent)
Soft skills – Creative, innovative, public speaking, problem-solving, practical
Hard skills – Data management and analysis, project management, design skills, hands on microfabrication
Experience – Laboratory experimental skills, Computer Aided Design
Competencies – English written and communication skills, SolidWorks, Microfluidic device fabrication
