Senior Executive, Programme (Senior Laboratory Executive)
Responsibilities:
The incumbent is required to ensure that all the laboratory session arrangements concerning timetabling, facilitation of the teachings, BoEs and teaching schedules are executed on a timely manner
Responsible for lab component procurements for the laboratory sessions
Develops, proposes and executes processes regarding to the setting -up and preparation of laboratory courses, and maintenance of the laboratory equipment
Provides support to MSCSI students during laboratory sessions
Ensure that each user can is properly trained and aware of the health and safety hazards associated with the various highly specialised equipment (NMR, MS, TEM, SEM, AFM, Raman, chromatography and optical spectrometers)
To implement safety protocols and ensure that the Master’s students learn the safe and correct ways to handle the equipment and hazardous chemicals during their lab experiments
Provide daily check on the usage record of central facilities equipment and housekeeping
To assist the reporting officer in the charging of the central facilities lab equipment
Assist in the general central lab/teaching lab administration and other responsibilities
Manages the relationship and interactions with current students
Assist the administration of course registrations, timetabling, NTUlearn, Student Feedback on Teaching (SFT), Mark lists for BoEs and laboratory schedules on an ad-hoc basis
Other ad-hoc duties as required by the MSCSI programme
Skills and Qualifications:
Diploma or higher degree, in chemistry, chemical engineering or a related discipline
At least 2 years of relevant experience in academic and lab setting
Hands-on experience or willingness to learn on the job for the following instruments, including, but not limited to: mass spectrometer, NMR, TEM, SEM, AFM, Raman, GPC, GC and LC
Experience of working in the Higher Education sector
Experience of working in a customer-focused environment
Proactive and a positive attitude towards work tasks
Conscientious team player
Assertive and meticulous
Good planning and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure
Strong ability to communicate (verbal and written skills) effectively with students, faculty and team members
