Team / division overview
The Corporate Strategy and M&A team supports the management team, business units and regional divisions of DWS in setting and executing the strategic agenda for the business as well as overseeing and executing key transaction activity. Its key responsibilities include:
Strategy: Working with the DWS leadership team (usually the Executive Board) and the individual business units and regional divisions to develop successful strategies to achieve the goals of each business unit, create long-term plans and review progress against our objectives.
Business Development: Evaluate growth and business development opportunities in all business units and regions.
Business Solutions: Help implement strategy with cross-functional organization, seize new opportunities and overcome challenges with a team of professional project managers.
Mergers and Acquisitions: Oversee all inorganic activity, including mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, strategic partnerships, and other key corporate activities.
The Strategy team is set-up directly in the area of the Chief Executive Officer of DWS
Role Details
As our Senior Corporate Strategy and M&A Manager, you will be responsible for :
- Management and execution on corporate strategy activities for the region, working with the regional Strategy and M&A team but also global Strategy and M&A team as well as key regional stakeholders
- Support in evaluating growth and business development opportunities with relevant business divisional heads
- Preparation of business cases for initiatives to create the strategic and financial rationale for prioritizing target investments
- Engage in the negotiation of key agreements with external parties as it relates to strategic partnerships in conjunction with other DWS stakeholders
- Support all major initiatives including M&A activities for the global business
- Preparation of decision papers for DWS executive management team and presentation to the relevant committees
- Responsible for the coordination of corporate secretariat, board and governance matters with regards to DWS joint ventures and strategic investments in APAC. Facilitate communication between DWS corporate functions and the various investee entities.
We are looking for
- University degree (business management, economics or scientific background)
- Around 7-9 years of Professional experience in consultancy, investment management, corporate strategy, investment banking/M&A or related field
- Strong analytical skills and intellectual curiosity around the key trends driving the asset management industry
- Knowledge of project work, experienced in the preparation of decision papers and project management
- Highly driven and motivated individual with a proven ability to execute tasks and initiatives
- Strong teamwork and collaboration/communication skills
- Professional handling of common MS-Office programs (Word, Excel and especially PowerPoint)
- Quick comprehension, high solution competence and willingness to work closely on projects in order to drive implementation
