Overview of Role
In the exciting and dynamic role of Operator, you will coordinate all post-deal trading activities to ensure smooth contract execution. You will provide commercial and market information to traders, manage daily scheduling, inventory, and shipping matters, and address any operational issues.
Based in Singapore, you will report to an Operations Team Leader who will support you in your daily activities.
Main Responsibilities
- Review and comment on complex contracts and tenders, manage financial exposures and efficiently execute obligations governed by Incoterms and oil major GT&Cs. Understand the legal framework supporting oil contracts, interpret a charter party against the oil contract, and coordinate these elements accurately and efficiently.
- Leverage a good understanding of common ship operations and terminology, ensuring satisfactory commercial operation of vessels under minimal direction. Use knowledge of relevant petroleum product specifications, analytical methods, laboratory precision, inspection procedures. Furthermore, understands different types of financial instruments, their uses, and the importance of LOIs and shipping documents within the process.
- Maintain accurate records of operational positions (vessels, storage, qualities / blends, product movements), cost accruals and allocations
- Ensure duty, taxation, compliance, customs importation and exportation, excise tax obligations are diligently observed, monitored, reported
- Adhere to System Management Policy through live dashboards, periodic reporting, and desk audits.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal and external issues, participating in team meetings to address and resolve operational concerns.
- Foster strong relationships with industry peers and third-party service providers, managing invoices and ensuring compliance with Rate Agreements.
- Work ethically and in compliance with industry standards, promptly escalating any instances of non-compliance to Team Leader and / or Regional Manager.
Profile
The individual should have the following experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of Commodities Operational experience in a trading environment, with at least 3 years in the operation of Crude Oil or CPP operations (Gasoil preferred).
- Experienced team player skilled in communication, negotiation, and addressing dynamic priorities.
- Flexible, driven, and capable of creative problem solving with proven initiative
- Knowledgeable of multiple commodities, components and grade specifications, bulk product storage, product blending, inspection procedures, laboratory precision, and product regulatory compliance.
- Well-versed in cargo shipment procedures, industry standards, regulations, technical terminology for truck, rail, pipeline, and maritime transport, and the impact of transport laws on oil movement operations.
- Experienced in vessel cargo operations, encompassing areas such as port/terminal coordination, inspections, chartering, bunkering, canal transits, vetting, ship-shore compatibility, quality, quantity, blending onboard, circulation, internal transfers, adherence to international legal regulations.
- Experience of shore-based storage facilities and the activities required to load / discharge operations to that storage are desirable. Activities such as managing inventory, conducting blends and managing a variety of qualities, issuing relevant operational instructions.
- Collaborating with external parties to manage delivery dynamics, resolve transport issues, and update trading systems, internal stakeholders.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is highly preferred.
