Details of the Division and Team:
The position is for a Senior Credit Risk Officer role supporting Corporate and Investment Bank, with focus on Structured finance businesses covering Southeast Asia locations (Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia), based in Singapore.
This role has responsibility for independent risk management oversight for Credit Risk, and embedding the Group's Risk Management Framework for that risk type within the Business Divisions and Infrastructure functions. They contribute to the setting of risk appetite for given risk type, and monitor against it. They also independently assess risks for complex or significant transactions or other drivers / key controls, and provide challenge and advisory at a senior level. They make decisions and approvals based on their allocated authority level, and are a point of escalation for disputed assessments or decisions. Role responsibilities also include reviewing the effectiveness of current frameworks and methodologies as these are used and collaborates with others to improve and develop these.

Your key responsibilities:
- Senior Credit Officer responsible for reviewing, recommending, and approving (a) complex/structured transactions across leveraged finance, project finance, real estate, sponsor financing, equity loans and (b) Corporate Banking and Financial Institutions transactions across Derivatives, Trade Finance and Lending products.
- Demonstrate a sound judgment of Risk / Return in arriving at credit decisions / recommendations to achieve the overall portfolio strategy and objectives of the Bank.
- Support business units in driving strategy to drive optimum risk / return and in line with overall portfolio strategy and risk appetite.
- Ability to engage with senior Front office colleagues , including challenging them to ensure DB’s high underwriting standards are maintained, while driving resolution with business units and key stakeholders
- Drive audit and regulatory agenda as required. Would be required to directly interface with regulators and auditors
- Training/guiding juniors in reviewing structured transactions, knowledge transfer to other credit officers.
- Manage a portfolio of existing transactions with responsibilities including:
- Monitor counterparty performance by reviewing financial and operational reporting, confirming covenant compliance, and assessing industry trends.
- Monitor and evaluate ratings on an ongoing basis, identify credit deterioration and make recommendations for watch list.
- Produce annual credit & rating reviews, watch list reviews
- Assess new transactions, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Interface with Front Office on new deal screenings and assess credit risks related to operating environment, business strategy, financial profile and management. Provide preliminary views on ratings, risk appetite and compliance with regulatory and policy requirements.
- Participate in due diligence by reviewing internal and independent financial, commercial and technical analysis and evaluating business plans, financial projections and models.
- Review loan terms and documentation, assess compliance with underwriting standards, portfolio limits and other requirements.
- Review credit memos, assess credit & repayment capacity, analyze valuations & liquidity.
- Determine ratings, write and present credit recommendations to required approvers.
- Collaborate with other areas within the Bank, including front office and support functions such as Market Risk, Regulatory and Advisory, Legal, Compliance, Finance and Operations
- Support business units in driving strategy to drive optimum risk / return and in line with overall portfolio strategy and risk appetite.
- Perform portfolio reviews to ensure risk are proactively assessed and managed.
Your skills and experience:
- Banking experience focused on both (i) Structured finance (leveraged finance, project finance, real estate, sponsor financing, equity loan) with understanding of structuring terms, loan documentation and enforcement in multiple jurisdictions. The role covers large ticket transaction requests that combine loan origination, structuring, syndication and hold to high yield counterparties. The credit officer needs to have technical expertise in credit analysis on secured lending transactions that are heavily governed with financial covenants (ii) Corporate and Financial Institution credit analysis skills with understanding of industry risk drivers; established negotiation skills to deal effectively with conflicting priorities & resources
- For VP level, minimum of 10 years of experience
- For AVP level, minimum of 5 years of experience
- Independent Credit approval authorities across multiple customer types and asset classes. Understanding of key industry segments such as Renewable, O&G, Data centers, Telecom.
- Experience in and knowledge of Southeast Asian market especially Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, with knowledge of market, regulations etc
- Proven understanding of derivatives, ISDA, trade finance products
- Climate risk assessment as part of transaction approval and ongoing potfolio monitoring
- Technically strong, with a good understanding of global risk regulations
- Ability to build strong relationships internally with divisional clients locally & globally, as well as internal stakeholders
- Educated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent qualification/relevant work experience
Role is required to be performed on-site at One Raffles Quay office. Relevant vaccination requirements may apply.
