The Role: Accountant
This position reports to the Managing Director and will be responsible for overseeing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to maintain accurate financial records for the company’s operations. Specific Responsibilities:
Financial Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, journals, and bank reconciliations.
Process and ensure all payments and receipts are accurate, in accordance to the policy and supported by sufficient documentation.
Ensure that all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
Liaise with banks on account opening, maintenance and review. Check and advice on banking charges and rates.
Budget Management:
Assist in the development, preparation, and management of the company’s annual budget.
Monitor expenditures and ensure that the company remains within budgetary constraints.
Provide regular budget reports and variance analyses to the board.
Financial Reporting:
Handle full set of accounts for the company.
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for the leadership team.
Preparation of financial reports for regulatory bodies and auditors.
Respond to any financial queries or concerns.
Compliance & Regulations:
Ensure compliance with applicable local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Assist with the preparation of tax filings and other relevant financial documentation.
Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and laws affecting the company’s financial operations.
Review and recommend tax planning.
Plan, co-ordinate and discuss on external audits.
Liaise with company’s secretary on matters pertaining to director’s resolution and other company’s registration updating matter.
Financial Analysis & Advising:
Provide financial analysis and advice to the leadership to aid in decision-making processes.
Analyse financial trends and make recommendations for cost savings or increased revenue.
Qualifications:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in full set of accounts, preferably within an educational setting.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budget management.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software.
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of education-related financial regulations and compliance standards is a plus.
