The College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS), formerly known as the School of Computer Science and Engineering, is NTU Singapore’s newest academic college. CCDS is a leading AI and computing institution known for its excellent curriculum, outstanding and impactful research, and world-renowned faculty. Our roots began in 1988 as a humble school offering an undergraduate degree in Computer Technology, the first of its kind in Singapore.

Position Overview
We are seeking two global leaders in Artificial Intelligence for the following two endowed chair professors.
- Tan Lip-Bu Professorship in Artificial Intelligence
- Yidan Professorship in Artificial Intelligence
The chosen candidates will offer vision, leadership, oversight, and a strategic roadmap to drive transformative changes in AI. They will also engage faculty across various colleges, aiming to secure competitive interdisciplinary research funding from both public and private sectors. Their overarching objective is to position NTU as a global hub of excellence in AI research and education.
We are seeking individuals with a distinguished international reputation and a proven track record of leadership in AI research and education. Ideal candidates should demonstrate deep expertise in AI, alongside a strong ability to inspire and lead interdisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include conducting groundbreaking research in areas such as AI for Science, AI for Healthcare, AI for Resilience, AI for Education, Generative AI, and AI Safety.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidates are expected to take on leadership roles, driving the development of new capabilities, fostering innovation, and collaborating with fellow faculty members. In addition to developing research programmes, they will also contribute to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in their areas of specialization. Key responsibilities include:
- Establish a world-class research programme.
- Develop a robust research agenda and maintain a strong publication record.
- Establish partnerships with local and international researchers and practitioners to explore avenues for research and teaching that will create an impact in the discipline and/or educational practice.
- Enhance the College’s visibility as an international leader in AI research and education.
- Secure research funding from competitive grants and industry partnerships.
- Deliver engaging and effective teaching to both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Mentor and supervise undergraduate and graduate students as well as research staff.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within the University and with external partners.
- Undertake essential administrative responsibilities within the College and the University.
Requirements
Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
- A relevant Ph.D. from a reputable University
- Excellent track record in publishing high-impact papers in top journals and conferences
- Successful track records and of academic and research leadership in Artificial Intelligence
- Strong network and ties with renowned international entities and organizations
- Internationally acclaimed with presentations such as plenary and / or keynote addresses at flagship conferences and prestigious journal publications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
