Position Overview

The Head of English will play a pivotal role in shaping the school’s English program by leading curriculum development, setting instructional standards, and mentoring a team of dedicated educators. Key Responsibilities

Departmental Leadership

Provide strategic direction and leadership for the English Department, ensuring alignment with the school’s vision and mission.

Supervise, mentor, and inspire the English teaching team, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.

Establish and monitor departmental objectives, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality education.

Curriculum Design and Development

Develop and implement a robust English curriculum that meets international standards and supports bilingual learning objectives.

Integrate innovative teaching methodologies and advanced technologies to enhance learning outcomes.

Ensure the curriculum reflects global perspectives and encourages critical thinking, creativity, and cultural awareness.

Teaching Excellence

Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of English language instruction across all levels.

Model exemplary teaching practices by occasionally conducting lessons or professional workshops.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching strategies and ensure continual improvement.

Student Development and Assessment

Design and implement effective assessment strategies to track and support student progress.

Analyze assessment data to identify areas for improvement and develop targeted interventions.

Provide tailored support for students at varying proficiency levels to ensure their success.

Professional Growth

Lead professional development initiatives to enhance the skills and expertise of the English teaching team.

Stay informed of global trends and best practices in English language education.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the department.

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree strongly preferred).

Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.

Demonstrated success in curriculum development, program management, and staff mentoring.

Familiarity with international education standards (e.g., IB, Cambridge, IPC) is a significant advantage.

Strategic leadership and organizational abilities.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Creativity and adaptability in addressing the needs of a multicultural student population.

Expertise in leveraging technology to enhance instructional practices.

Compensation

SGD 4,000 to 6,000 per month (commensurate with qualifications and experience).
