Pathlight School is the first autism-focused school in Singapore to offer the national curriculum together with life readiness skills. It caters to students on the autism spectrum with related conditions, aged 7 to 18 years, who are cognitively able to access national curriculum but require additional support such as smaller class sizes, special accommodations and teaching staff trained in autism.
The Social Work team is responsible for effective collaboration with key stakeholders including parents and caregivers of our students to enable them to be active partners in their child’s education journey.
As a Social Worker, your Impact and Contribution includes:
Casework and Counselling
- Identify emerging trends that require domain attention in case assessment and case planning and implement the use of new and emerging approaches in casework interventions
- Implement professional tools and working templates to support staff in case assessment and case planning
- Monitor and implement use of professional processes (such as use of tools and templates and adherence to practice policies
- Implement case and care plans and interventions for cases as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Groupwork and/or Community Work
- Conduct environmental scans and community needs assessments
- Mobilise community resources
- Develop and implement new community development initiatives and evaluate their progress and effectiveness
- Implement community initiatives that promote inclusion
- Review models of care and service delivery based on evidence-based research
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
- Actively participate in community networking and build collaborations with stakeholders including parents, caregivers, community partners and other professionals
- Establish collaborations with internal and external stakeholders to deliver and improve care and services for parents and caregivers, including facilitating the smooth transition of students into and out of Pathlight
- Develop and conduct effective parent engagement activities to enable and empower parents and caregivers to be active teaching partners
- Identify families with more complex needs for relevant intervention/assistance. These include providing school and community-based financial assistance as well as linking families to community help and making referrals if necessary
Administration Support
- Maintain documentation of case management intervention such as case logs, reports, database
- Maintain and review SOPs and process related to case management
- Support Student Affairs matters such as student admissions, understanding families’ needs and communication with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements
- Degree in Social Work or Graduate Diploma in Social Work recognised by the Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB)
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a social work setting is preferred
