The opportunity
Our Commodity Markets team in EY focuses on addressing our client’s agenda in the commodity trading industry. This team is in our Strategy and Transactions practice which covers Strategy, Commercial Due Diligence, Integration/divestments, and Value Creation. This high-performing team has grown rapidly and is active in the market with a number of deep focus accounts in the metals and mining industry and with oil trading and refining companies in the region.
You will be working in teams with experienced commodity markets and consulting professionals, where you will learn and develop the skills you need to identify and develop opportunities and perform in a range of consulting situations and commodity sub-sectors. When working on projects you will almost always be working as part of a wider cross service line team.

As a member of our ASEAN delivery team, you will collaborate closely with global counterparts, collaborating with fellow specialists and gaining opportunities to work and travel across the ASEAN region.
Your key responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality consulting services, including market analysis, risk management strategies, operational improvements, commodity trading, procurement, supply chain management, supply and demand dynamics, price trends, and regulatory impacts, and hedging.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior client management and stakeholders.
- Address client questions and concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the commodity markets sector. Contribute to proposal development, pitch presentations, and client meetings.
- Foster a collaborative team environment and share best practices and industry knowledge.
- Assist manager and the project lead to develop project plans and manage project timelines and budgets.

- Prior experience of:
- Business strategy or management consulting.
- Commodity trading and risk management operations including exposure assessment, measurement, and management
- Commodity, Interest rate, Forex and Derivative operations.
- Commodity Desk and Market Risk Reviews.
- Commodity compliance and regulation.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Qualified CA/ CFA, FRM or Master in Finance or other equivalent qualifications (Accounting & Finance, Commodities, Engineering etc)
- At least 3 to 6 years of experience in Consulting industry
- Experience in commodity trading industry and its related aspects (including Commercial optimization, Risks, Controls, Operating Model Set Up, Strategy and Operations) is an advantage
- Microsoft excel proficiency with experience in financial modelling, Scenario analysis, Stress testing, VaR computations etc. using excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint proficiency – Experience in delivering project reports and proposals using PowerPoint
- An ability to confidently speak across one or more commodity sub-segments (energy, agriculture, base metals, precious metals, bulks, renewables/carbon, etc.)
- Good presentation and communication skills and prior audit experience would be advantageous.
- Work experience in strategy, operations, or large-scale transformation.
- Travel to client locations across ASEAN and global markets as necessary
Ideally, you will also have
- Positive working attitude and passion about taking challenging tasks.
- Experience gained within another large professional services organization.
- Established networking skills in a relevant industry.
- Experience in front- (Trading, Sales, Marketing, Structuring, etc.), middle- (Risk, Product Control, etc.) or back-office (Finance Operations, Physical Operations, etc.) roles in commodity firms or financial services firms.
- Highly motivated individuals with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize shifting workloads in a rapidly changing industry.
- Effective communication skills, you will be a confident team player that collaborates with people from various teams while looking to develop your career in a dynamic organization.
