What the role is:Singapore Customs advances Singapore's economic development by protecting revenue and making trade easy, fair and secure. We are looking for two highly motivated and resourceful interns to join our Analysis and Targeting Branch (ATB) for 3 months or more.What you will be working on:The intern will assist in one of the two projects below: (1) Developing and optimizing workflows in SAS Enterprise Guide to identify high-risk shipments for enforcement action Responsibilities: • Review and analyze the output generated by the workflows to assess accuracy and effectiveness. • Fine-tune workflows to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with enforcement priorities. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and optimize processes. • Document processes, methodologies, and findings to ensure transparency and reproducibility. • Ad-hoc duties as assigned by supervisors (2) Conducting research on the alcohol industry in Singapore Responsibilities: • Compile a comprehensive list of commonly sold liquor brands, prices, and online platform sellers in Singapore. • Conduct open-source research to map the liquor distribution network, including suppliers, distributors, and retailers. • Engage with industry stakeholders to gain firsthand insights into distribution practices and market dynamics. • Analyze trends and patterns in pricing and distribution to assess potential risks of tax evasion. • Document findings and prepare detailed reports with actionable insights. • Ad-hoc duties as assigned by supervisorsWhat we are looking for:(1) Developing and optimizing workflows in SAS Enterprise Guide to identify high-risk shipments for enforcement action Requirements: • Proficient in SAS Enterprise Guide with a solid understanding of its features and functionalities. • Strong grasp of data structures and application in workflow development. • Analytical mindset with attention to details and problem-solving skills. • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Prior experience with risk analysis or workflow optimization is an advantage. (2) Conducting research on the alcohol industry in Singapore Requirements: • Strong open-source research skills with experience in online investigations and stakeholder engagement. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for conducting industry outreach. • Keen attention to details and able to identify trends and inconsistencies. • Strong organizational skills to manage and document large datasets. • Interest in compliance, market research, or the liquor industry is advantageous.
