We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Scientist specializing in enzyme and fermentation technology for the food and beverage industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in enzyme technology with experience in food processing technologies and digitalization.


A day in the life of…


Technology Development for Innovation Pipeline:

  • Develop Enzyme and Fermentation Solution: Identify and optimize enzyme, fermentation solutions based on their mechanistic understanding to improve product quality and performance for food and beverage applications. Design and execute experimental plans to validate scientific hypotheses.
  • Food Process Integration: Develop and refine enzyme, fermentation applications for integration into existing production processes. Identify opportunities to combine with existing and process technologies to enhance the benefit and applicability.
  • Ideation & pitching: Transform promising ideas into viable business concepts and prototypes. Present and pitch developed concepts and prototypes to internal and external stakeholders effectively.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast with cutting edge technology in this space and scout, evaluate and assess the potential value of these technologies in our application including preliminary technoeconomic analysis to quantify feasibility.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Address and resolve technical issues related to enzyme performance, optimization, and process integration.
  • Digitalization: Experience in leveraging data-driven, high-throughput screening approaches to optimize biotransformation process development and optimization

Project Management:

  • Provide timely and expert technical and scientific support for R&D and market projects.
  • Contribute to project activities with a proactive approach and in-depth project-specific knowledge.
  • Communicate results and methodologies through written reports and presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Lead technical activities, ensuring projects meet deadlines and objectives efficiently.

Technical Assistance:

  • Operate and master analytical and bench-scale equipment related to enzyme, fermentation technologies and process optimization.
  • Develop and refine methods and tools for enzyme, fermentation applications in the food and beverage sector.
  • Propose and justify the acquisition of new laboratory and bench-scale equipment as needed.
  • Offer operational support during pilot and industrial trials and supporting global product launches, including technical improvements and enhancements.

What will make you successful

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in enzyme and fermentation technology, with demonstrated industrial experience (atleast 2 years) in food and beverage applications.
  • Experience in leveraging digital tools for screening and optimization to drive innovation. Familiarity with platforms such as MATLAB, Python, or other relevant data analytics tools is a plus.
  • Proven track record of managing scientific projects from concept through to commercialization including budgeting, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Deep knowledge of enzyme technology, biotransformation, fermentation, with practical experience in developing and applying such solutions in the food and beverage industry.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, capable of articulating complex concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to scout for, develop, and implement innovative technologies and processes.
  • Creative problem-solver with a passion for driving innovation.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends.
