Panel Assistant Position (Part-time) in Singapore SSC

We are looking for a proactive individual to join our sensory team as a part-time Sensory Panel Assistant for a 9 month fixed term contract based in Singapore.
The Sensory Panel Assistant reports to the Sensory Manager, assisting them to ensure that sensory projects run smoothly by managing all activities related to the sensory panels’ sessions, overseeing sensory laboratory productivity, and supervising kitchen technicians.
This will be a 9 month fixed term contract starting immediately, running until September 2025
Hours of Work: 3 days - Tuesday and Thursday 9-6pm and Wednesday 9-1pm
Flexibility required according to panel schedule (additional time may be required if more panel sessions or reduced hours if panel session hours are shorter)

Rate: SGD 14
Responsibilities:
- To assist in all aspects of the running of the Sensory Panel sessions including research, source, prepare and manage products and sensory references for sensory panel sessions
- Receive, store, inventory and prepare samples/materials for all sensory panel sessions
- Ensure that all activities carried out comply with basic food hygiene standards within the laboratory – Basic food hygiene training will be provided.
- To ensure the Sensory Panel working area is prepared appropriately in good time for each session and cleared/cleaned after
- To manage day to day activities of support technicians/helper/cleaners where they are available for more basic or routine tasks
- To assist in the preparation and set up of recruitment screening sessions, making up screening solutions/products, and facilitating the sessions with candidates in the booth area
- To monitor the quality of food samples and test procedure and ensure appropriate records are maintained. This includes temperature logs for freezers/fridges, cooking logs, inventory logs with BB/Use by dates.
- To assist the Sensory SRE/Manager or any other member of the Sensory Science Centre with any other tasks as required.
- Responsible for general maintenance and organization of work areas ensuring escalation of any issues if cannot be resolved on own
- To assist in the preparation and set up of recruitment screening sessions, making up screening solutions/products, and facilitating the sessions with candidates in the booth area

- Responsible for general maintenance and organization of work areas ensuring escalation of any issues if cannot be resolved on own
- Creation of clear and logically formatted product inventories for every project making use of templates where appropriate, collating product detail in PowerPoint format using MMR templates and formatting.
- Assist with documentation of project samples by collation of pictures throughout the project cycle – e.g. pictures of pack, product preparation, product serve, references and any other detail relevant for sharing with client or for future understanding by the project team
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic Food Hygiene qualification / an aptitude for food preparation with limited supervision needed
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Being able to function well within a team
- Able to work independently, a self-starter who likes to take initiatives with a logical, analytical mind.
- Computer literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. (Training will be given in the relevant software packages)
- Innovative – finding solutions to problems whilst maintaining and observing robust scientific principles
- Natural passion for seeking out the most effective and efficient ways of working and being prepared to speak up about your ideas
- A plus: being a lover of good food and passionate about cooking
