We are looking for a Research Associate to develop novel 3D printing technologies in the area of large-scale 3D cementitious structural printing.
Key Responsibilities:
Structural Printing
Large-scale structural modules with Robotic arm and Gantry system.
Programing code for Robotic arm and Gantry system
Operating the printing system including mixer, pump, robotic arm, and Gantry system
Printing Path Optimisation
Computational design of 3D concrete printing structure
Optimise the printing path to ensure the smooth structure surface finish and excellent mechanical properties.
Conduct structural testing, such as tensile, compression, flexural and shear tests
To investigate the key parameters in the design of 3D printing concrete specimens on the structural performance.
Conduct numerical analysis using finite element modelling of structural elements by using FEM
Data acquisition and Image processing with MATLAB
Experimental Investigation
Design and fabrication of experimental facilities including nozzles and inline control systems based on the theoretical model and CFD simulation.
Job Requirements:
Master degree in 3D cementitious material printing, additive manufacturing or Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Structural Engineering
At least 2 years of research experience in 3D concrete printing (3DCP) with strong knowledge on 3DCP Process and path planning, Design for 3DCP, tool path and machine code generation
Computational Design and 3D concrete printing
Possess good knowledge of structural analysis, concrete and steel materials, and finite element analysis
Strong knowledge and experience in large scale 3D cementitious material printing
Excellent programing code for robotic arm and gantry system operation.
Strong experience in parametric modelling software like Rhinoceros 3D, Grasshopper, CAD/CAE tools like MasterCAM, Robotmaster.
Ability to work on structural and surface optimization
Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and analytic skills
Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team
