Details of the Division and Team:

Deutsche Bank is exposed to a wide range of risks every day. It is the responsibility of the Chief Risk Office (CRO) to identify, aggregate, manage and mitigate these risks. Credit Risk is a centralised risk-type function within the CRO function. The team is primarily responsible for providing credit approvals for single name credit risk, setting credit limits and monitoring and managing these in the context of the bank’s Enterprise Risk Management framework. The team provides deep technical expertise to the business aligned risk functions and facilitates strategic business decision-making to improve overall use of the bank’s capital and minimize loan losses.

The role involves working with a team of credit officers covering North Asia credit which is an important part of Deutsche Bank’s Asia growth strategy. This is a second Line of defense function to partner with the business stakeholders to grow and manage a healthy and balanced credit portfolio in a sustainable and remunerative manner. He or she will be required to make credit decision and to monitor the credit portfolio together with the team. The role requires analytic skills in assessment of financial risk and requires knowledge and sensitivity to other non-financial risks eg operational and regulatory

Your key responsibilities:

  • Research/ recommendation/ approval of underwriting and credit limits and transactions covering Corporates and Financial Institutions on a timely basis.

  • Working closely with Business and other Infrastructure functions to wholistically assess the risk of a credit exposure.

  • Preparation of counterparty ratings and ongoing monitoring of evolving counterparty risk, including inputs on industry, financial and business risk, management and transparency, peer analysis and financial analysis; covenant monitoring tools

  • Demonstrate an understanding of Loan products/ Structured Finance, but also Markets and Trade Finance products, in order to assess the Risk / Return equation in the Business proposals

  • Demonstrate a sound judgement of Risk / Return in arriving at credit decisions / recommendation in order to achieve the overall portfolio strategy and objectives of the Bank

  • Participate in discussions on structuring of transactions, with a view to achieving optimal risk and return metrics for the credit portfolio

  • Effective resolution of conflicting views with Business in a constructive and professional manner, maintaining the Bank’s underwriting standards, at the same time supporting the Business to achieve agreed targets.

  • Coordinate with internal / external / Regulatory audit & on-site inspections by providing documents & feedback.

Your skills and experience:

  • Graduate with minimum 2 years experience in credit risk management role in a reputed financial institution

  • Prior experience working on financial analysis, approval / recommendation of transactions and portfolio responsibilities.

  • Basic understanding of key products – financings, trade finance and global markets (fx/rates/commodities)

  • Strong technical & analytic skills, risk judgment.

  • Basic understanding of documentation like ISDA, CSA and loan agreements.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proven ability to make time sensitive credit decisions

  • Strategic and result oriented
