Formerly known as Bukit Ho Swee Family Service Centre, South Central Community Family Service Centre (SCC) provides support to the low-income and vulnerable families in our community. While giving support to families who seek help in financial, social or relationship issues, we encourage community self-help and cooperation.

About the Role of Community Social Worker
The Community Social Worker is responsible for facilitating change and improving the lives of individuals, families and community facing transitional challenges through the provision of community centric approach interventions. He / She will engage, mobilise, organize and activate the community through different SCC platformsand to work towards realising their aspirations of getting out of the poverty cycle. The role of the worker will be split between 50% in casework management (lower caseload) and 50% in community work initiatives and development.
He / She will act professionally at all times and be accountable to the member(client), community and the organization to ensure that intervention plans are developed and implemented according to professional judgment and knowledge.
Responsibilities
FSC Integrated Practice - Deliver Code of Social Work Practice (CSWP)
- Oversee the implementation of BPSS, FAST in the context of SSNet for assigned Supervisee
Casework Management - Deliver quality casework and counselling services to clients
- Manage cases (i.e. from intake, assessment, documentation, referrals and closure)
- Attend networking and case management meetings with key stakeholders
- Conduct relevant assessments (FAST, BPSS, any other financial or risk assessments)
- Conduct home visits
- Case conferences
- Community Engagement and Networking
- Provide case supervision, guidance and advice to support staff, volunteers and student interns
- Develop and review appropriate intervention strategies
- Develop, maintain and review the organisation’s casework and counselling system and SSNet
- Provision of the social work administration supervision and support
- Initiate case conference with internal staff and external organisations
Community Work (Community Development), Group Work, Service/ Programme Development - Deliver effective programmes, including but not limited to groupwork, community outreach, research
- To work closely with Senior Social Worker, Lead Social Worker, Principal Social Worker and/or Executive Director to plan a holistic suite of programmes and services that are customised to the needs of the clients in the immediate area of influence/ community
- To identify assets, resources (manpower, budget, partners & etc) needed for the delivery of programmes
- To conduct community conversations, group work sessions and ensure smooth implementation of programmes
- To evaluate the effectiveness of the programmes/ community initiatives and platforms
- Establish a trust-based relationship within communities, that enables mapping community assets and resources, developing and mobilising community groups to offer peer support, engage and develop pool of community volunteers from within the community.
- To engage communities through SCC platforms (e.g. Community Kitchen, GoodWill Exchange) and co-creation of community events and platforms.
Research
- To participate in research, e.g. conducting community outreaches, learning/community conversations, community needs survey and data mining
Requirements
- Degree/ Diploma in Social Work/ Community Work with at least 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
- Clear and good communication skills – ability to relate to a varied audience.
- Competent in facilitating community conversations and focus groups; Able to lead diverse groups to spark idea exchange, foster shared views, developed co-owned solutions with community and mediate community conflicts.
- Good cross-organisational collaborative skills.
- Able to operate effectively in a dynamic and fluid work environment.
