As an Engineer, Product Design in the Datacom and Specialty Solutions Division (DSS), your primary purpose is to support the growth and expansion of engineering capabilities focused on new product development and manufacturing for IO External cables. You will engage in reviewing new concepts with manufacturing, providing feedback on feasibility and plant capability, and supporting various analysis activities to ensure product reliability and market expansion.
Our Team
You will be a part of the Datacom and Specialty Solutions Division (DSS) at Koch Inc., located in Singapore. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams involved in new product development and manufacturing, including Product Marketing, Product & Project Management, Manufacturing Operations, Advanced Quality Planning, Reliability Laboratory, and Quality. Additionally, you will interact with customers and suppliers to meet the objectives of the product development process.
What You Will Do
- Support the development and manufacturing of IO External cables, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Review new product concepts with manufacturing teams, providing feedback on feasibility and plant capabilities.
- Conduct and support analysis activities, such as Proof of Concept (POC), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Tolerance Analysis.
- Develop alternative solutions to address gaps in achieving target specifications.
- Manage activities related to First Off Tool (FOT), First System Validation (FSV), and Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) testing.
- Provide engineering support for existing products in production or launching.
- Address customer quality issues to ensure product reliability.
- Assist plant operations in cost reductions and yield improvements.
- Create and develop product modifications and series expansions to increase market share.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of mechanical product design experience with electronic products.
- Experienced in the product development process and understanding of Tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and FEA.
- Basic knowledge of component design including injection molding, die-casting, sheet metal stamping, and plating.
- Strong attention to detail, creativity, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external customers.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and relevant work experience.
- Experience from the connector industries, with 3 years of specific high-speed data connector design knowledge in the commercial or consumer space.
- Knowledge of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) design and signal integrity.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with clean sheet new product development component design.
- Familiarity with the component manufacturing environment and a solid understanding of industry quality standards and requirements.
