Job Responsibilities:
CURRICULUM
Ø Maintains a safe and hygiene environment for children
Ø Identify the importance of routine activities and transitions.
Ø Recognises routine care as important learning experiences.
Ø Follows daily schedule and understand the predictability for young children.
Ø Responding to children’s initiations and requests, including nonverbal cues.
Ø Uses care-giving activities such as diapering and dressing, as an opportunity to foster healthy development through positive adult/child interactions.
Ø Recognise the importance of sensory experiences, exploration and play in children’s growth and learning.
Ø Participates in children’s play without taking over the activity.
Ø Demonstrate basic concepts of observation.
Ø Identify nonverbal cues, gestures, and moods through observation.
CONNECTING WITH FAMILIES
Ø Identify and use appropriate communication skills to communicate positively and in a manner that respects the diversity of families.
CENTRE OPERATIONS
Ø Follow basic conflict-resolution strategies during interactions with colleagues and parents.
Ø Oblige the vision, mission and core values of the centre.
Ø Know and follow all programme policies and procedures.
Ø Participate in maintaining the environment to support children’s safety and learning.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Ø Ensure Champs safety in all areas and activities. Eg: Champs are to be supervised at all times.
Ø Ensure all Champs’ hygiene at all times. Eg: Proper hand washing and food handling habits.
Ø Assist class teachers in maintenance of classroom to adhere to safety and hygiene regulations. Eg: refilling hygiene items like tissue and sanitiser and regular toy washing.
Ø Report any damage/safety hazards in classroom to class teachers
Ø To ensure cleanliness in all parts of the centre
Ø To be fully prepared for supporting class teachers during any fire evacuation exercise.
Ø Staff are patient with messiness slow eater are given time to finish food, children are encouraged to eat independently.
Ø Staff and children observe good hygiene practices.
Ø Wash hands after toileting, before/after meals and after outdoor and art activities.
Ø Proper sanitary procedures are observed during diaper changing
Ø Staff wash hands before/after diaper changing.
Ø Soiled diapers are disposed in a covered bin.
Ø Children are supervised at all times,
Ø Children are within sight, hearing and easy reach of staff Eg: Staff quickly get materials from cupboard in room)
Ø Staff’s attention is on care giving responsibilities, not on other tasks or interests.
Ø Power points are out of children’s reach or rendered harmless.
Ø There are proper storage facilities for play equipment; more than 2 staffs are present during outdoor play.
Ø Safety gates are latched at all times
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Ø Know the expectations of one’s job description and is familiar with the organisation’s personnel policies such as performance management, wages, benefits contact.

Ø Certificate / Fundamental in Early Childhood Care & Education
Ø Creative and inspiring with loving energy
Ø Excellent communication and classroom management skills
Ø Be familiar with all working curriculum documents, handbooks and policy manuals.
