Our client is the Singapore setup of a privately owned company headquartered in Geneva in2015. The company has quickly developed from a local market trader in the Black Sea and Mediterranean to a globally recognized energy trader. Today, the company is physically moving crude oil, refined oil products and dry-bulk energy commodities globally via sea-going vessel, barge, rail, truck and pipeline.

JUNIOR RISK ANALYST

This is a new role reporting to the Risk Team Representative in Singapore and focus materially on data assimilation doing the trade and price uploads, daily broker reconciliations and running data control processes. The goal is for the role to evolve over time to take on more responsibility around trade and market + risk reviews. Strong IT skills in Power BI, Python, and SQL with partial CFA will be advantageous. This role will eventually lead to facing the trade desks directly.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Prepare MTM PNL report that includes positions breakdown, pricing exposures, hedging for both paper and physical trades
  • Trade capture and position analysis in risk management system
  • Daily assimilation and upload of market and trade data
  • Able to do price assessment by using market data.
  • Evaluate portfolios, understanding profit and loss drivers
  • Responsible for analysis of MTM of trade transactions.
  • Actively liaise with Trade Team to ensure timely reconciliation, identify error, closely work with trade team to identify any potential risk exposure.
  • Ensure Trading Department's adherence to company’s credit and risk policy and comply with established processes

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Economics or Finance
  • Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in the energy commodity trading firms, hedge fund or banks as middle office/product control
  • Strong technical/development skills – Power BI, Python and SQL, VBA
  • Basic understanding of derivatives and commodities
  • Strong analytical ability, team player, meticulous, and good communication skills, with the ability to self-start and work independently on certain tasks
  • Pro-active and able to take initiative to pre-empt problems and complete tasks
