Job Description:
You will (assist in) the triage of urgent and high-risk referrals from hospital based Medical and Surgical teams as well as referrals from community based medical practitioners.
You will also be involved in nail surgery, prevention clinics as well as mentoring students. There will be opportunity for specialist training in shockwave therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, compression bandaging, maggot debridement therapy and ultrasonic debridement therapy.
Part of the role will be providing input into the education of other health care professionals on the high-risk foot and other foot conditions.
The Challenges
Responsibilities and Duties
You will be responsible for the following:
• To assess and diagnose patients with a diverse range of medical and podiatric conditions, using appropriate diagnostic techniques, skills and tools.
• Report to and liaise with referring doctor and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Document patient podiatry notes clearly, accurately and in a timely manner.
• Charge patients accurately.
• Perform assessment and registration of new patients.
• Comply with clinical standard operating procedures.
• Comply with department policies in clinical governance, health and safety and infection control.
• Supervise Therapy Assistants and students in Podiatry.
Practice within area of professional and clinical competence and seek support from supervisor / other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
