What The Role Is

The Home Team Science & Technology Agency (HTX) is the first of its kind Science and Technology Agency in the world that brings together science and engineering capabilities across the Home Team Departments to transform the homeland security landscape and keep Singapore safe.

Within HTX, various Centres of Expertise (CoE) drive specialised efforts. Among these, the HTX Forensics CoE is committed to advance forensics capabilities through research, development, and continuous innovation and provides scientific forensic analysis and intelligence gathering to the Home Team Departments.

As a Drug Forensics Specialist, forward deployed to the Forensics Response Team (FORT) in Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), you will play a crucial role in processing crime scenes and conducting forensic investigations to support the enforcement of drug-related laws and policies.

What You Will Be Working On

As a Drug Forensics Specialist, you will be required to:

  • Conduct thorough forensic processing and management of crime scenes pertaining to drug offences, ensuring adherence to both legal statutes and scientific protocols.
  • Collect physical evidence at crime scenes, meticulously documenting field activities and maintaining a strict chain of custody for all investigative findings.
  • Document and preserve forensic evidence, meticulously ensuring its adequacy and integrity to support investigations and court proceedings.
  • Strictly adhere to established protocols, standards, and regulations governing drug forensic procedures, with comprehensive training provided.
  • Maintain readiness for shift duties and 24/7 stand-by availability, recognising the exigencies inherent in law enforcement work.
  • Provide crucial support to forensics operations and investigations, including attending court trials.
  • Undertake any additional administrative duties or projects as assigned, contributing to the efficient functioning of the team.


What We Are Looking For

Candidates should possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science, Life Science, Chemistry, Biology and/or other related disciplines.
  • Excellent observational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in diverse environments.
  • Eagerness to learn and collaborate as a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work flexible shift hours in alignment with the demands of drug forensics work.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure at irregular hours.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of work.
  • A valid Class 3 driving license will be an advantage.

All new appointees will be provided with relevant training and appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
