Key Responsibilities:
- Create Technical Drawings:
Produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings, including site plans, topographic maps, and boundary surveys, using CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.). - Interpret Survey Data:
Analyze and convert raw survey data (such as measurements and elevations) into detailed technical drawings and maps. - Update and Revise Drawings:
Modify and update existing plans and drawings based on new data or feedback from surveyors, engineers, and clients. - Collaborate with Surveyors and Engineers:
Work closely with surveyors and engineers to ensure drawings reflect accurate survey findings and project requirements. - Quality Control:
Review drawings for accuracy, ensuring that all measurements, distances, and coordinates are correct. - Maintain Documentation:
Organize and maintain an updated library of drawings and ensure all project documentation is properly archived. - Ensure Compliance with Standards:
Adhere to local surveying codes, construction standards, and regulations when preparing technical drawings. - Occasional Field Support (Optional):
Assist with field surveys when necessary, particularly in measuring boundaries or confirming survey data.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
Experience in creating both 2D and 3D survey drawings and models.
- Knowledge of Surveying Principles:Understanding of land measurement techniques, topographic data, and surveying principles.
- Attention to Detail:High accuracy and attention to detail in creating and reviewing drawings to avoid errors.
- Mathematical Skills:Strong understanding of geometry and basic trigonometry for interpreting and calculating land measurements.
- Communication Skills:Ability to effectively communicate with surveyors, engineers, and clients to understand requirements and convey technical information.
- Problem-Solving Skills:Ability to troubleshoot discrepancies in data or designs and find solutions to technical issues.
- Education & Experience:Diploma or degree in drafting, land surveying, geospatial sciences, or a related field.
Previous experience with surveying firms or in a CAD drafting role is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Standards & Regulations:Familiarity with local surveying codes, construction standards, and industry regulations.
