Through hiring, coaching, and mentoring you will develop a team of data analysts that can independently and confidently deliver clear business value through high quality advice, experimentation, analytics, and dashboards. This will be a hybrid manager-IC role.
What You’ll Be Doing (Role Responsibilities)
As a Data Analytics Lead, your managerial responsibilities will include:
- Leading a team of 4-5 data analysts
- Identifying skill and knowledge gaps within your team and filling them through a combination of training, coaching, mentoring, and shadowing
- Act as a strategic partner in the Marketing department to grow the extent of data-driven decision making, prioritising data-analytics initiatives that deliver the most business value
- Creating standards and consistency in processes, guidance, tools, quality, and outputs—both within your sub-team and beyond—by collaborating with other data-analytics leads
- Partnering with Data Engineering to improve the data quality, consistency, reliability, and documentation of data pipelines, tools, and processes
- Maintaining a strong relationship with other Data Analytics domains, ensuring we identify synergies, avoid duplicated effort, and support each other as needed
- Contribute to the planning and execution of Data science & analytics within the organization—as a group of people, as a partner within cross functional teams, and as an enabler to support others to self-serve their data and analytics needs
- Lead complex projects to turn data into insights, predictions, and actionable recommendations, delivering clear business value to your business stakeholders
- Deliver impactful insights and recommendations using compelling visualisations in user-friendly dashboard designs.
- Help to design and analyse A/B experiments based on key metrics defined with the business.
- Partner Data Engineers and Analytics Engineers to define requirements for foundational datasets that can support downstream analytics and reporting.
- Be the interface between marketing business teams and Data engineering & insights team
- Able to deep dive, understand data to grasp user journeys on our platform and provide recommendations to solve friction points
We seek candidates with most, or at least some, of the following skills and experience:
- Leading a team of at least two people overseeing performance reviews, 1:1s, mentoring, career plans, etc.
- Delivering business value: Combining your big-picture vision, solid business acumen, and clear prioritisation alongside sound analytical skills
- Relationships and influencing others: Able to make connections and build effective relationships at a strategic level with key stakeholders and data engineering partners within the data organisation
- Requirements gathering: You lead by example in truly understanding stakeholders’ strategy and challenges to collaborate and define the insights they need (vs want)
- Data analysis: You consistently deliver high quality analytics that build and tell a story, leading to actionable recommendations for the business
- A/B experimentation: You have extensive experience in designing, executing and evaluating A/B experiments - able to provide recommendations on next steps through iterations of the tests.
- Tools & platforms: You are strong in SQL and have worked with a range of analysis tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Databricks, DBT with up to date knowledge of potential new ones to explore. Experience in integrating analytics databases to CRM systems like Braze
- Web analytics Tools & platforms: You have extensive experience in web analytics tools like Mixpanel, Google analytics 4, SimilarWeb, SensorTower, Apptweak and good understanding of Google ads ecosystem
- Defining processes and standards: For your team to drive consistency and quality
- Strong Stakeholder Management skills: You are able to drive prioritisation discussions across multiple stakeholders and be a thought partner to drive business decisions.
- Excellent communication skills: You are able to engage people across the company at all levels, including senior management.
- Building a culture of collaboration: Where your team supports each other to grow through mutual mentorship
- Data driven culture: Lead a Data Analytics team at a company where everyone is hungry for data! You won’t need to knock on people’s doors persuading them to look at data, everyone is asking for it!
- Empowerment and authority: Your objective is to help impact the priorities for your business domain. Beyond that, while we’ll have some guardrails in place, you’ll still have the autonomy to determine how you approach and solve problems.
