Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Loan Servicing in Asia Pacific (APAC) ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures

Accountabilities

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Mentor and coach new/ existing staff within GWO on the systems and nest market practices pertaining to lending servicing
  • Investigation of the Nostro account breaks and ensure the break is resolved in timely manner
  • Coordinate team activities and coach on technical aspects of work to meet daily schedules
  • Understand interdependencies across related teams and leverages that understanding to ensure targeted results
  • Supervise ongoing work and get actively involved, as required, to meet schedules, resolve issues and ensures service level agreements and quality standards are met
  • Champion a high performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment
  • Singapore (APAC Loan hub country) – Supervise and Perform loan accounting/processing duties, covering 3 entities (Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia Branch)
  • Receive instructions from Borrowers/Agent banks/Credit Administration/Credit Execution/RM department to prepare for upcoming transactions.
  • Set up new loan facilities and maintain existing facilities in LoanIQ as per the authorization from front office.
  • Check terms and conditions for drawdown as per the Limit Input Form & ensure proper disbursement instructions are received and set up in LoanIQ before a transaction is executed
  • Prepare/ releases transactions in LoanIQ for all loan transactions including drawdown, rollover, repayment, fee payment, prepayment and etc.
  • Prepare/ release notices in LoanIQ to borrowers and follow up with Agent banks for the collection of interests, fees, repayments and etc
  • Ensure all outbound payments are completed before agreed timeline between the bank and borrower/ agent bank
  • Ensure all scheduled transactions are prepared and released in timely manner
  • Follow up all non-receipt items and escalate to Management for advice/action.
  • Support stats/ report preparation for internal/ regulatory requirement
  • Performing all other duties as assigned

Education / Experience / Other Information

The incumbent is required to possess a sound knowledge of the loan processing functions and is able to differentiate the various types of loans based on the Loan Agreement in order that a high standard of loan service is maintain at all times. Familiarize with the nuances / knowledge in order to process loans from the respective APAC countries.

He/she requires a thorough knowledge of the Bank's accounting policy pertaining to loan servicing and good knowledge on payments.

Knowledge/ Experience In LoanIQ Is Preferred.
