- This position is for Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE).
- Reports to the Assistant Director and assists on pedagogy matters and technical expertise e.g. technology tools, videography and mounting on learning management platforms) to support instructors who are converting their courses to blended format and MOOCs.
- Assigned projects by the Assistant Director, and partner other Learning Designers/Learning Technologists to provide consultation and professional services on BL (Blended Learning) projects with instructors to ensure that the solutions developed are aligned to sound learning design principles based on the use of appropriate digital tools.
- Review faculty's existing blended learning content and identify appropriate solution(s) for their courses. This includes providing pedagogical rationale for recommending and developing content using appropriate media types, as well as suggesting and developing relevant learning activities for the course. The scope will include the development of new courses and repurposing of existing courses to be delivered via online learning platforms.
- Co-develop relevant course materials with instructors including filming, post-production and use of e-authoring tools.
- Provide support in TEL-related (Technology Enhanced Learning) projects to provide pedagogical inputs as a Learning Designer/Technologist in the design and development for a variety of media (e.g. engaging web-based and mobile learning applications, videos, animations, games, simulations and other instructional technologies for online and blended learning activities).
- Plan and conduct professional development workshops on curriculum design, development, and delivery of BL and its corresponding digital tools to faculty and staff in SMU.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Degree in Education/ Learning Design or equivalent.
- 2 to 3 years of relevant working experience, of which at least 1 year experience in designing and developing online and blended learning solutions required. These solutions may be a variety of instructional media, including face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous online learning technologies, self-paced online learning, multimedia etc.
- Strong knowledge and experience in the implementation and management of online, blended learning (preferably in undergraduate and postgraduate courses or programmes of an institute of higher learning) and MOOCs will be an advantage.
- Sound knowledge and experience in applying contemporary and emerging principles of learning/instructional design to online and blended learning, including all phases of the Instructional System Design (ISD) process or Analyse, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) model.
- Proficient in videography, graphics creation, and post-production.
- Proficient in the use of e-Authoring tools, such as (but not limited to) Articulate, Lectora.
- Extensive knowledge of online learning tools and media.
- Possesses good project management, resource management and people management skills.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent communications skills with a good command of both oral and written English.
- Excellent time management and ability to multi-task.A motivated, self-starter and team player who is resourceful and independent.
