The Office of Health and Safety (OHS) champions health and safety management at NTU. OHS oversees various university-level health and safety programs, including biosafety, chemical safety, radiation safety, and electrical safety. OHS is also responsible for establishing frameworks and systems that promote and share best practices in safety and health across Colleges, Schools, Research Centres, and Departments.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for the implementation of university-wide safety and health programs, including the occupational health and chemical safety programs. This involves collaborating closely with key stakeholders, such as the University Health Service, to ensure the well-being of NTU staff and students.
- Lead and manage Health and Safety Teams within assigned Schools, Departments, and Centres to develop, implement, and review the effectiveness of safety and health management systems.
- Conduct safety and health training for faculty, staff, and students.
- Oversee institutional IT systems related to health and safety management.
- Develop, review, and update institutional standards and guidelines to support Schools, Departments, and Centers in areas such as chemical safety, occupational health, and general laboratory safety.
- Advise management, staff, and students on safety and health issues and methods to minimize or eliminate risks and hazards.
- Liaise with governmental bodies and regulatory agencies.
- Conduct audits and inspections of offices, research laboratories, and their supporting facilities.
- Investigate accidents and incidents in offices and laboratory-based faculties/research institutes with safety committee members.
- Perform data analytics on key health and safety indicators.
- A Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Life Sciences or Health, Safety and Environmental Management, or related discipline
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in Safety and Health Management, preferably at the corporate or institutional level.
- Good understanding of local legislation related to workplace safety and health, environmental and public health, and regulated permits, licenses, and equipment for various enforcement agencies (including SPF, NEA, MOM, SCDF).
- Experience in implementing workplace safety and health for offices and laboratory-based faculties/research institutes.
- Having a Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) certificate, Registered Fire Safety Manager (FSM) certificate, Internal Auditor Certification for ISO 45001:2018, or relevant experience in developing occupational health programs will be advantageous.
