Responsibilities

  • Manager, Alumni Engagement
    • Recruit, manage and engage volunteers as Alumni Representatives, Chapters, Groups and Communities.
    • Introduce and implement initiatives to build and deepen relationships with local and overseas alumni communities across different demographics.
    • Provide direction and guidance to alumni communities on their engagement initiatives, leadership succession plans and other related matters.
    • Execute Mentoring Programmes and participate in networking events.
    • Develop and cultivate online alumni communities and implement digital engagement initiatives.
    • Maintain the alumni groups database, update contacts and details of volunteers.
  • Event Planning and Management
    • To conceptualise, plan and execute alumni activities of mid to large scale including the annual SMU Alumni Homecoming, Alumni Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, and online events such as Overseas Alumni Leaders Town Hall.
    • Responsible for preparing tender specifications, evaluation and implementation.
    • Facilite event registration and provide timely updates
    • Conduct post event surveys to canvass feedback and identify the diverse needs of the community so as to improve programme offerings.
    • Measure the success of events and programmes though the collection of and analysis of data.
  • Partnership Development
    • Collaborate with Schools, Offices, Colleges and Institutes (SOCIs) as strategic partner to co-organise alumni activities, events and engagment programmes.
    • Work as a team member in OAR to support department and university-wide events.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree with at least 4 years' of working experience, preferably in the higher education sector, in the areas of relationship and event management.
  • Proven good track record in the planning and executing of community building events. Understanding of alumni relations will be an advantage.
  • Possess good initiative, is detail-oriented with good administration and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrate competent stakeholder engagement and project/vendor coordination, able to manage concurrent initiatives.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in conduct and speech, strategic and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Mature and able to build and maintain relationships with alumni, industry partners and stakeholders.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to evolving circumstances.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic, able to work independently and in team settings.
  • Able to work outside regular work hours.
  • Good knowledge of and adept at using technology, social media and database tools.
