You are a member of the MUFG Asia Pacific (APAC) Technology Committee and will be primarily responsible for formulating and executing a future-ready technology infrastructure strategy, spearheading infrastructure change and transformation to the desired future state across the APAC region.

Reporting to the APAC CIO, you will serve as the leader of MUFG APAC's strategy platform and infrastructure initiatives, establishing and managing the strategic vision for the team, and leading efforts to improve the service quality, availability and reliability of systems and infrastructure hosted across APAC.

You will provide direction for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the physical and/or virtual infrastructure. This position plays an important role in ensuring proper governance, enhancing customer service level, and maintaining the availability of the overall system and infrastructure across APAC region.

In addition to managing the infrastructure that hosts the bank's business critical systems, you will also be responsible for managing the infrastructure run teams (Computer, Storage, Network, Database, Middleware, Voice Infrastructure, End User Computing and Digital Workplace Technologies), enhancing, centralizing and automating processes to enhance service reliability, cost competitiveness and employee / customer experience.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the technical field as well as drive thought leadership, spur innovation, and identify opportunities for automation in the team and the Bank as a whole.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the regional technology infrastructure strategy in accordance with business strategy, global / regional I.T. and enterprise architecture strategy, company policies and regulatory requirements and within stipulated SLA

  • Create a business-oriented mindset through continuous service improvement for the infrastructure, middleware, and DevOps organization.

  • Assimilate, integrate, and introduce emerging technologies, maintaining currency on new technologies and platforms.

  • Ensure that IT infrastructures are designed, developed, operated, and supported in a manner that meets the business needs. This includes the full lifecycle of technical architecture, infrastructure engineering, infrastructure operations, and IT service support. A well- defined and aligned solution design should include features such as high resilience, availability, scalability, security, performance, instrumentation, and monitoring.

  • Manage the technical team responsible for investigating incidents related to infrastructure and implementing remediation measures, and where necessary, revising architecture patterns to prevent future problems.

  • Implement specifications for tools and automation that enable lifecycle management (installation to decommissioning) of Bank’s server and network fleets at scale.

  • Ensure that I.T. infrastructure budgets are aligned with overall strategic objectives through the management of annual investment and expense budgets.

Requirements

  • A leader with minimum 20 years of I.T. infrastructure and technology experience and has worked in the Financial Services or similar fields with a proven track record of success. Possess a high level of confidence and strong leadership in managing in a complex and dynamic environment.

  • Strong technical background in core infrastructure technologies and emerging technologies in an enterprise environment is required. Understanding of all data center IT components, including End User Computing, Telephony and Voice, I.T. and Cyber Security, Networking, Storage and Distributed Systems.

  • Good understanding of the business strategies and challenges to ensure that available infrastructure and resources are sufficient to meet current requirements and support our growth plans.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills that will enable you to work closely with all levels of internal and external stakeholders. Good presentation and written skills to effectively describe and demonstrate technical solutions to internal and external parties. Strong ability to influence and negotiate a win-win outcome.

  • Ability to plan enterprise-level changes and have an in-depth understanding of the enterprise and its business units, as well as knowledge of the industry.

  • Relevant work experience in architecture, infrastructure, and cloud-native technologies, and the ability to propose effective toolsets and cloud adoption strategy to optimize performance and cost.

  • Experience in leading IT transformation initiatives in complex and dynamic environments is preferred, as well as practical implementation of agile methodology in the organization. In addition, you must be able to cope with ambiguity and adapt quickly. A thorough understanding of current and emerging technologies and how they are being utilized for business innovation and operational efficiency.

  • Knowledge of ITIL and relevant I.T. regulations governing financial industry across APAC is preferred.
