This role leads and manages the International Relations team of SBF’s Center for Future of Trade and Investment (CFOTI), working closely with the Singapore business community to develop and forward its interests with respect to cross-border trade and investment policies and regulations at international platforms such as the APEC Business Advisory Council, ASEAN Business Advisory Council, International Chambers of Commerce (ICC), Business 20, World Trade Organisation, East Asia Business Council, and Asia Business Summit.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Singapore business community to develop and forward its interests with respect to cross-border trade and investment policies and regulations at key international and regional fora that SBF is involved in. These fora include the APEC Business Advisory Council, ASEAN Business Advisory Council, Business@OECD, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Business 20 (B20) and Asia Business Summit. Our key area of focus are trade and investments, trade in services, the digital economy and eCommerce, trade & environment, small and medium-sized enterprises, customs and trade facilitation, and the digitalisation of trade finance.
  • Work closely with businesses, partners and stakeholders to conduct surveys, focus group discussions, seminars, studies and other activities to obtain feedback from our business community on its key areas of concern with regards to cross-border trade and investment policies and regulations, and raise awareness of the importance of the regional / international fora.
  • Work with the rest of CFOTI team to run outreach and education seminars on issues pertaining to trade and investment, particularly those relating to developments in the digital economy and the green economy.
  • Establish, and maintain relationships with businesses, partners, and stakeholders, to build up the organisation’s business community following, ecosystem, and interest group(s) where relevant, on cross-border trade and investment policies and regulations.
  • Staff the ICC Singapore Secretariat, as SBF is the Singapore National Committee of ICC. This will involve setting up and staffing the Singapore ICC Arbitration Group, the Singapore ICC Customs and Trade Facilitation Group, ICC Singapore Digital Economy Group and their activities.
  • Handle any other responsibilities and duties that may be assigned to you by SBF from time to time.

Job Requirements

  • Minimally a degree with at least 8 years of working experience, with previous experience in advocating for the interests of companies on overcoming the barriers in international trade policies and regulations in the areas of trade and investment, trade in services, digital economy, customs and trade facilitation, and trade finance.
  • A good understanding of Singapore companies’ interests and concerns with respect to the above-mentioned topics.
  • Good analytical, planning, consultation, communication and facilitation skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English with the ability to write policy papers.
  • People management experience and skills.
  • Results-oriented with multi-tasking capabilities.
  • Strong drive and proactive self-starter.
  • Able to work well in a team and as an individual contributor.
  • Able to travel frequently.
