What a Product Cost Lead/Program Manager does at HP:

  • Leads teams with representation across functional, regional and global business unit (GBU) to develop and enhance business processes, model supply chain costs and drive cost reduction.
  • Provides overall cost intelligence including projections, trends, and drivers at the product and portfolio level to enable and drive business decisions. Ensures projections and costs are high confidence. Proactively identifies cost reduction opportunities.
  • Develops, defines and implements models to provide visibility to drivers for product costs across the supply chain.
  • Manages quantitative and qualitative business models and analyses to support proactive supply chain operation activities, projects and cost reduction.
  • Creates, documents and improves cost tools and processes. Proactively pursues solutions to issues and process gaps.
  • Effectively collaborates across teams. Builds strong working relationships with R&D, Finance, and Operations partners and management.
  • Presents information clearly and effectively to senior management. Influences multiple stakeholders and interacts with managers and directors.
  • Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Management, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent.
  • Typically 6-10 years experience.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and successful experience managing all aspects of programs, including communicating with stakeholders and directing matrixed teams and resources.
  • Business analytics and/or programming skills or advanced Microsoft Office skills or experience with analytical tools, models and methods for making key business decisions.
  • PMP/PMI certification and/or Lean Sigma experience preferred.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate program plans, proposals, and results at senior management levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex environment.
