An established Corporate/Investment Banking institution is looking to hire an experienced Loan Recovery Specialist in Singapore. Reporting to the Head of Credit Risk Management, the successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing the recovery of Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) and mitigating credit risks. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust recovery strategies, managing complex loan cases, and ensuring compliance with both internal policies and regulatory requirements. This position requires strong collaboration with internal teams and external partners to drive successful recovery outcomes and contribute to the bank’s overall asset quality. In return, you can expect total remuneration of up to SGD 250,000 per annum.

You will be expected to:

  • Manage Loan Recovery Portfolio: Handle and follow up on the branch’s non-performing loans, implement recovery strategies, and prepare recovery proposals for approval.
  • Risk Event Monitoring: Track material risk events, report to management and Head Office in a timely manner, and follow up on potential problem loan cases.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Prepare and review monthly reports on collections and recovery, ensuring compliance with Head Office, branch, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Negotiate with borrowers, collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Corporate Banking, Legal), and liaise with external parties such as lawyers and judicial managers.
  • Mentorship & System Management: Develop loan recovery management procedures, guide junior staff, and set up frameworks for post-loan risk management to prevent future defaults.

Requirements:

  • At least 12 years of experience in Loan Recovery/Credit Restructuring
  • Proven expertise in loan recovery, with strong negotiation, communication, data analysis, and investigative skills. Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to bad credit collection and independent project management capabilities.
  • In-depth understanding of legal terms and processes related to restructuring, litigation, repossession, and liquidation. Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and make timely, informed judgments to handle contingencies.
