UWCSEA East has a vacancy for a teacher of both High School English A (first language) with a possibility of English B (English as an Additional Language) from August 2025.

Main Responsibilities

  • Teachers should be willing to contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the English and broader High School teams.
  • Teachers should construct learning experiences that challenge students, support diversity of learning in each classroom, and demonstrate a strong commitment to conceptĀ­-based teaching and learning.
  • Teachers should ensure assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant and appropriate feedback to students on formative and summative assessments.
  • Teachers should demonstrate effective classroom management that shows an understanding of the academic, social and emotional dimensions of learning.
  • Teachers should keep parents informed about the learning of their children, and be proactive in communication with parents.

Expectations and Standards

  • Follow the UWCSEA Professional Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Code of Conduct.
  • Teach in line with the UWCSEA Teacher Standards

Person Specifications

  • A good degree in English and a recognised teaching qualification/certification/licence are expected.
  • Experience in English Language Learning (EAL/ESL etc) or Applied Linguistics is desirable, but not essential.
  • Experience of teaching the IB Diploma English A courses for Literature, and Language and Literature.
  • The ability to engage with students and to engender enthusiasm for learning is a prerequisite for teaching at UWCSEA.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential, alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.
  • Applicants should be enthusiastic about teaching within a multicultural environment. Flexibility of approach and a collaborative style are essential.
