Job Description and Summary

The Prime Brokerage team at Maybank Securities is responsible for providing customized and comprehensive solutions to our institutional clients, including hedge funds, asset managers, and family offices. Our services include trade execution, clearing, financing, and custody services, which are all designed to help them achieve their financial goals, objectives and investment needs. Our role is to provide clients with access to capital, liquidity and advanced trading tools, all of which are essential for their investment strategies. We help to expand their trading capabilities, leverage positions and diversify their portfolio with a wide range of investment opportunities. Additionally, we provide clients with a competitive edge by helping them access new markets, technology and investment strategies.

As an intern in Prime Brokerage, you will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, from analyzing client portfolios to supporting new business development initiatives. You will have the chance to rotate between departments to gain more insights from the different workings of the investment bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis on client portfolios, including performance attribution and risk analysis.
  • Support the development of new business by conducting market research.
  • Participate in training sessions and other learning opportunities to enhance your knowledge of the financial services industry.
  • Undertake projects for CMS (CRM) and Sales (Segmentation), gain good understanding of the functions performed by the CMS team.
  • Handle prospect and client queries, assist the sales team in client on-boarding process, ensure timely and accurate execution of client requests and transactions.
  • Assist in executing networking events, creating marketing collaterals and monitored performance of initiatives launched by marketing team.
  • Gain good understanding of key compliance and risk functionality for Prime Brokerage and be acquainted with procedures and issues, prepare reports for both areas.

Requirements/Pre-Requisites

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accountancy, Finance, Economics, or a related field, in a reputable local/overseas university.
  • A full-time commitment period of 6 months, from December 2024 to May 2025 (credit-bearing internships may be considered).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Keen to develop themselves in the profession.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, confident and creative.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment and build relationships with colleagues.
  • Service-oriented and committed to teamwork and excellence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
