UWCSEA East has a vacancy for Teacher of High School Mathematics [Maternity Cover, 4 months] from December 2024.

The appointee will teach a range of classes from Grade 9 to Grade 12. The department offers all levels of IGCSE and IB Diploma Mathematics as well as our concept-based curriculum in Grades 9 and 10.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they are an inspiring practitioner with the drive to continually develop within the profession.

Please note that to apply for this role, you must have an internationally recognised qualification and reside in Singapore. You must also be readily available from December 2024.

Main Responsibilities

  • Teachers contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the Mathematics and broader High School teams.
  • Teachers construct learning experiences that challenge students, support diverse learners in each classroom, and demonstrate a strong commitment to concept-based teaching and learning.
  • Teachers utilise the UWCSEA Learning Principles as a foundation for effective teaching and learning.
  • Teachers contribute to a reading culture through enthusiastic personal reading in Young Adult literature and enjoyment in working with their own classroom library.
  • Teachers ensure assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant and appropriate feedback to students on formative and summative assessments.
  • Teachers demonstrate effective classroom management that shows an understanding of the academic, social and emotional dimensions of learning.
  • Teachers keep parents informed about the learning of their children, and are proactive in communication with parents.

Expectations and Standards

  • Follow the UWCSEA Professional Code of Conduct and Safeguarding Code of Conduct.
  • Teach in line with the UWCSEA Teacher Standards

Person Specifications

  • Experience in curriculum programme development. IBDP experience teaching HLAI is essential.
  • A good degree in Mathematics or a closely related discipline and a recognized teaching qualification or certification are expected. Teachers should be willing to contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the High School teams.
